Performing two iconic pieces for organ and orchestra: Poulenc’s Organ Concerto and Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony.

Oklahoma City – The Oklahoma City Philharmonic is excited to welcome world-renowned organist Cameron Carpenter for a special performance featuring two iconic works for organ and orchestra: Poulenc’s Organ Concerto and Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony. Carpenter, known for his unconventional interpretations and advocacy for the digital organ, will highlight the instrument’s orchestral capabilities.

Born in April 1981 in Titusville, Pennsylvania, Carpenter has had an illustrious career. He was homeschooled for part of his early education and later attended prestigious institutions such as the American Boychoir School, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and The Juilliard School, where he earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Organ Performance. Carpenter was the first organist to be nominated for a Grammy Award for his album Revolutionary in 2008.

The OKC Philharmonic’s Music Director, Alexander Mickelthwate, will host a pre-concert lecture at 7:00 p.m. The concert promises to be a dazzling display of organ virtuosity, combining traditional compositions with Carpenter’s distinctive approach.

“I’m really excited for the upcoming Classics featuring Saint Saens’ Organ Symphony. The organ is the king of all instruments as it can sound like a full symphony orchestra by itself, played by one person. Cameron Carpenter, the soloist of the evening is an international star. It will be an epic night.” said Alexander Mickelthwate, Music Director of the OKC Philharmonic.

Tickets are available for purchase at the OKC Philharmonic box office (405) 842-5387 or online at okcphil.org, with prices ranging from $24 to $109. Special student pricing is also available at $11 with a valid ID.

The Organ Symphony is sponsored by The Salmeron Family. The concert is a Levine Family Classics Concert in Memory of Seymour and Anne Levine.
